Breaking: Town of Newburgh To Host ICE Concentration Camp
Some unpleasant breaking news to share for fans of democracy in the Hudson Valley.
This is a developing story. Congressman Pat Ryan, Assemblymember Jonathan G. Jacobson, Newburgh Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio, and ICE have not replied to a request for comment by The Monroe Gazette at the time of publication.

On July 13, 2026 at 7 p.m., residents of the Town of Newburgh will get their chance to sound off on the ICE detention facility planned for 800 Corporate Boulevard, right by Stewart International Airport. If you can’t make it, the town records and airs its board meetings here on YouTube.
Project Saltbox first broke the news of the warehouse to be converted into a concentration camp this morning. You can read that story here.
The town of Newburgh has been known to cancel meetings in the face of community blowback, so be prepared for that July 13 meeting to get cancelled if they get wind a big crowd is expected.
The Monroe Gazette previously filed FOIL requests for documents concerning the proposed warehouse to concentration camp conversion but received no response from the Town. We are currently appealing the lack of response to our FOIL request, which you can see below:
If you are upset about the potential for another concentration camp to open in the Hudson Valley, we encourage you to call:
Congressman Pat Ryan: 845-275-6390
Senator James Skoufis: 845-567-1270
Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson: 845-562-0888
The Monroe Gazette will have more on this story as it develops.
