Former Door Dash Delivery Driver Delivers BS to Southern Orange County Residents
A preview of State Senator Skoufis's latest scam & announcements for upcoming local events, including information on Orange County and Rockland County's No Kings Day.
Bad News: We’re off tomorrow.
Good News: I have two long articles currently in the works.
The first is a recap of this week’s Town of Monroe Board meeting, which was held on June 2nd. Trying to fact-check the stuff that comes out of Tax Hike Tony’s mouth always slows me down.
For example, this week, Monroe Town Supervisor Tony Cardone informed Mrs. Zaleski, a resident who spoke during Public Comment, that he consults with the Village of Monroe Police Department on a weekly basis.
I’ve confirmed through multiple sources that this is yet another Tony Cardone Con Job. He doesn’t. And here’s a FOIL to back up the claims made by our sources.
(By the way, look how fast the Town turned that FOIL request around. That may be relevant to another story concerning FOIL and the Town of Monroe down the road …)
If you don’t want to wait for my 15,000-word article on the Town Board meeting — I’m joking … I swear — You can watch the meeting below. And yes, that is Clovewood Kathryn (Woodbury Town Supervisor Kathryn Luciani) in the screenshot. I promise, we’ll get to why she’s there too.
In the interim, I just want to encourage people not to make it personal when criticizing the candidates. With one exception: If they’ve made it personal, then by all means. Feel free to get personal.
State Senator Skoufis? He’s made things personal. The gloves are off for him and anyone working on his behalf.
But the other candidates in Monroe and Woodbury? I haven’t quite seen it.
So, let’s say there’s a Woodbury Town Board member with a substance abuse problem. And let’s say, hypothetically of course, that person is Local Bigot Brandon Calore. There’s other things for you to attack that dude on. Like being a bigot.
That’s newsworthy because our area has a long history of claims of antisemitism and bigotry. So, if Mr. Calore doesn’t want to disavow any relationship to the Proud Boys, or condemn the local bar and grill that hosts White Supremacists in Woodbury — allegedly – that’s news. Mr. Calore wants to be the Mayor of Woodbury. If he’s a bigot, and the Village of Kiryas Joel wanted to sue the Village over alleged anti-semitism, well, you can see how Calore’s “enlightened” views are relevant both for voters and for the judges that will hear that case.
But. If Mr. Calore has a substance abuse problem? That gets a little iffy. I don’t know. I’m just not big on shit like that. Skoufis is different because he’s a state senator. Who he fucks, especially when it’s not his wife, is a big deal. Especially if that person he fucks is his (now former) Chief of Staff, who’s salary you were paying at the time of said fucking.
Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck. So, I don’t know about you. But I don’t want my hard earned money going to fund a dating service for sleazebags who cheat on their wife.
Who a Town Board or Village Trustee fucks though?
If they’re using or abusing substances?
I just don’t think it’s all that interesting. That’s why I don’t write about stuff like that.
That’s just my opinion. I’m not going to lecture anyone. But I do encourage you to look at it like this: How much power does this person have?
Skoufis has a lot of power over you. So the bar should be really high. Especially when the last Governor was forced to resign for sexually harassing women.
Everyone else? I encourage you to focus on the things that matter. Unless! Unless they’ve attacked or tried to defame you. Then by all means, hit these people back. Part of the problem we have in America right now, with Congress for example, is that members of both parties are empowered to say whatever crazy shit they want. Free of consequence. And you can see what that’s brought us. Consequences can fix that.
The second story involves State Senator James G. Skoufis’s new Independent Expenditure Committee, known as Protect Monroe-Woodbury. It’s operated by both Mr. Skoufis and former Door Dash Delivery driver — not a joke — William J. Alexander. And what is Mr. William Alexander and Mr. James Skoufis delivering to residents of Southern Orange County?
They’re Delivering Bullshit
For example, Mr. Alexander — who somehow made the career leap from delivery driver to Director of Operations for a State Senator — and Mr. Skoufis, are targeting Woodbury Village Mayor Andrew Giacozomma. As well as his running mate, Tara Burek. (They’re also targeting this fool, too.)
Above: A 2024 Team Skoufis Dream Team Pic, posted by Mr. Alexander. Mr. William Alexander is in the front row, on the left. Mr. Skoufis, presumably standing on a box filled with human remains, is in the center.
Protect Monroe-Woodbury is also targeting Monroe Town Councilwoman Maureen Richardson. While propping up the competitors to Mr. Luis Rivera and Mrs. Bethany Stephens. This includes Brandon Bernard, who is a former Skoufis intern.
See for yourself:
And these attacks on Giacozomma and Richardson are about as subtle as you’d expect from a Door Dash Delivery driver turned Director of Operations for a State Senator. (Seriously. Now I know why nothing is being done for the people of South Blooming Grove. Mr. Skoufis is too busy counting Joel Stern and Isaac Ekstein’s money, and he’s got unqualified idiots running the office for him. No wonder the Clovewood developers CONTINUE to receive fines from the DEC and the Senator can’t be bothered to do anything about it.)
I’m investigating each claim made by Protect Monroe-Woodbury for the longer article. And if you can figure out who Mr. Skoufis and Mr. Alexander are trying to protect Monroe-Woodbury from, by all means, let me know. Because it seems, from their early offerings at least, that they’re only interested in protecting Monroe and Woodbury on behalf of the Real Estate interests who have funded Mr. Skoufis’s campaigns.
Here’s a quick example of some of what Mr. Alexander and Mr. Skoufis are offering people through Protect Monroe-Woodbury: Mr. Skoufis and Mr. Alexander have published a website wherein they attempt to trick Woodbury residents. Par for the course, right? But here’s where it gets dumb: They want to trick Woodbury residents into thinking the Village of Woodbury has anything to do with the Town of Woodbury raising your taxes over 11% in 2025.
Nope! They don’t.
A tax hike, by the way, that Alexander and Skoufis failed to mention coincided with Supervisor Kathryn Luciani making herself the highest paid Town Supervisor in Woodbury’s history. Instead of talking about Mrs. Luciani’s full-time salary for a part-time position, Mr. Skoufis and Mr. Alexander are instead telling you that the Mayor of the Village of Woodbury raised his salary by 16%.
Now, listen. Some people become obsessed with the salaries of elected officials. For example, Senator Skoufis and his colleagues are the highest-paid state elected officials in America. I don’t have a problem with our elected officials making more money. As long as the work they put in justifies what they’re being paid. (Clearly, Mr. Skoufis is making too much if he’s got time for this shit.)
For example, with Supervisor Luciani, the Town of Woodbury doesn’t do a hell of a lot. Not when compared with the Village. So what you have is a Part-Time position where someone is making a full-time salary. That’s fucked up. If the Town of Woodbury had more departments, more employees, and more responsibilities, I’d tell you something different. I’d happily support a large salary because the work and demand of the job justifies the need.
But you see what Mr. Skoufis and Mr. Alexander are doing? They’re not talking about Mrs. Luciani’s full-time pay for part-time work. Instead, they’re pointing you to the 16% raise by one of your village officials, who has more responsibilities and duties than Mrs. Luciani does. That’s not a slight against Mrs. Luciani. Or an endorsement for Mr. Giacozomma. It’s just the difference in the role the two of them have.
But Mr. Skoufis and Mr. Alexander assume that you’re too dumb to know the difference. Isn’t that nice of them?
We’ll have those stories next week.
Before we go, here are some upcoming events I hope you will check out:
Local Monroe Events For June 2025
Note: The Farmer’s Market is back, as of June 1st, in the Village of Monroe. These events are every Sunday from now until the end of October from 9am to 1pm
Lion’s Club Community Fishing Derby
-The Lion's Club is holding a Community Fishing Derby for kids on 6/28 with a rain date of 6/29 from 8-12pm. Signup starts at 8:15am but they recommend you get there early on 6/28.
At 8:30am they’ll be holding a fishing clinic. There are four groups local kids can participate in: Ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12. All children need to be accompanied by a parent.
And for my fellow animal lovers, this is a catch-and-release event. So fish will not be harmed. Just mildly inconvenienced.
-Good Guy Sal’s Fascist Food Truck Spectacular is back!
On June 14th — Yes, No Kings Day — from 1pm to 8pm at O&R Park, the Town of Monroe’s Food Truck Festival is back. This time to benefit the Monroe Fire District, which is hosting the Orange County Firemen’s Parade. Tax Hike Tony claims the parade will cost "multiples of tens of thousands of dollars” for them to host this event. I don’t know if that’s true, because very little of what comes out of his mouth is true, but hey … Food Trucks!
There will be road closures on O&R Road from 12pm to 8pm. No Dogs are allowed. And Dial a Bus will be offering rides from the nearby Commuter Parking Lot for free if you need it.
Also on June 14th … Orange County is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event. More information can be found here. DO bring hazardous waste — like the kind Robert F. Kennedy likes to swim in — and prescription medication you no longer need. Do NOT bring electronics like your vape that stopped working. This event will be held at the Port Jervis High School.
The Monroe Village Concert Series Begins June 7th
And of course … Indivisible Monroe Events
June 7th (that’s Saturday!) from 1pm to 2pm at the corner of Lake Street and 17M in Monroe. There will be speakers, including Monroe Town Councilwoman Maureen Richardson.
And again on June 21st. 1pm to 2pm in the same location. Both of these events are held rain or shine.
We talked about the importance of these events in yesterday’s podcast. So I won’t repeat that all here.
For No Kings Day on June 14th, there is NO event in Monroe. Instead, there are three events. Two protest rallies and one march.
6/14 Warwick --10 to 11:30 am Along the sidewalk starting at Lewis Park and along Main Street
6/14 Goshen--12-2 pm at the corner of Church Street and Greenwich Ave
6/14 Newburgh -the March begins at the City parking lot (across from the library and St. George's Church), Grand Street & 2nd Street.
If you are in Southern Orange County, my recommendation is to go to the Goshen event. You can sign-up for it here.
I kind of wish all three of these groups had communicated and settled on one location for everyone to congregate, but that’s ok. That’s the Community Organizer in me speaking. What’s more important is that no matter where you live in Orange County, you have three options to choose from, and you pick the one that works best for you. We’ll get it right next time.
And for our Rockland Readers, I didn’t forget about you. I spoke briefly with Indivisible Rockland and they confirmed their event will be held from 12-2 between Route 59 and Middletown Road in Nanuet (aka The Four Corners.) If you are in Rockland, I strongly recommend registering for the event, which you can do so here.
See you next week.
Rock with Latin flavor, is that the best Monroe can do ? Such a vibrant community, that's not being considered.
