Kathy Hochul and Pat Ryan Promise To Fight Trump By Doing Nothing
Big Promises From Two Prominent New York State Democrats Do Nothing to Alleviate Concerns That They're All Bark and No Bite.
From May 2024 through December of that year, New York State Senate candidate — and Convicted Felon — Timothy Mitts spent $106,523.52.
How much Mr. Mitts spent in his hilarious losing bid for the Conservative Party line for Town Supervisor here in Monroe in 2025 is unknown.
That’s because, despite being required to do so by law, Mitts hasn’t reported any financial information to the New York State Board of Elections. Not concerning who contributed to his Monroe Town Supervisor campaign. And not how he spent that money.
Given that Mr. Mitts is a convicted felon with a long, documented history of cheating and deceiving residents across Rockland and Orange County, we shouldn’t be surprised.
(My only hope is that Junior Mitts, aka Elias Rosado-Cunningham / Elias Cunningham doesn’t follow in Big Mitt’s criminal footsteps. As it is, Elias has the crazed Facebook posts down pat. Does he really need to ape ALL of Mr. Mitt’s style?)
That said, Timothy Mitts did write an op-ed in last week’s edition of The Photo-News, vowing to fight on and “Take Back Monroe.” And I think we should talk about that.
Take Back Monroe and Give It To Who?
Mitts never says.
The same way he still won’t talk about the real estate transactions he was alleged to be involved with, as payment in exchange for running against Dorey Houle on the Conservative Party line in last year’s State Senate race between Houle and James G. Skoufis.
If you’re just joining us, as we were told, Mr. Skoufis wanted someone to Primary Dorey Houle, and Mr. Mitts was rewarded for doing that through a series of transactions involving a few of our Satmar brothers and sisters. To this day, Mitts refuses to release any tax information or documentation involving the LLCs he manages and their property transactions in 2023 and 2024.
I mention this for two reasons.
First: Because, just by using The Eye Test, we know that Mitts spent a bunch of money on advertising. Particularly with Jeanne Straus’s The Photo-News.
And in exchange, The Photo-News provided Mr. Mitts with a platform that’s often unavailable to most local residents: Space in the Letters to the Editor section of the local paper.
(Since Lisa Reider departed as Editor of The Photo-News, op-eds from local Monroe and Woodbury residents have slowly started to make a come back.)
In any other business, we would call this sort of arrangement between Tim Mitts and Jeanne Straus’s newspaper “pay to play.”
You run ads, you get to write and have published as many letters to the editor as you want. That’s not exactly objective journalism.
Nor is it worthy of asking people – on your front page no less — to donate $150 in a non-tax deductible contribution to a business that’s well funded by advertisers like Mr. Mitts.
That’s why I’m happy with The Monroe Gazette’s business model. It’s subscriber based. We have no ads. We don’t owe anyone anything other than the truth, which is not what you get in these frequent Tim Mitts appearances in The Photo-News, and often not what you get when you read their coverage of local Town and village board meetings. Under Lisa Reider, what Tony Cardone and Kathryn Luciani wanted in terms of coverage, they got. Whether or not this is still true remains to be seen, although as we’ve pointed out, Mrs. Straus and Tony Cardone have a chummy relationship. So, we’re not going to hold our breath.
Second: It’s real easy to tell people you’re going to fight on their behalf, and then not actually do anything.
And that’s the thing I want to talk to you about. Because both Congressman Pat Ryan and Governor Kathy Hochul, like Tim Mitts, are making a whole lot of noise about fighting on your behalf.
Fighting specifically against the deeply unpopular, and un-American, actions of the Trump administration.
But they’re actually doing nothing for you.
Sounding The Alarm, But Not Putting Out The Fire
You don’t have to take my word for it. In fact, you should never take my word for it. You should read The Monore Gazette, and then go see for yourself.
So in the video above, which Team Kathy Hochul titled, “Governor Hochul & Rep. Ryan Sound the Alarm on Devastating Impacts of Republicans’ ‘Big Ugly Bill’, you will hear and see the following for yourself:
-Governor Kathy Hochul talks about fighting on your behalf, in fact, it’s right on her podium, but she doesn’t say a single word about commiting to pass the New York For All Act, which would limit the State’s cooperation with ICE.
-Kathy Hochul doesn’t say a single word about the MELT Act, which would force ICE and other members of the Trump reigeme to not wear masks or obstruct their identity. Something that took on great importance after the MAGA Assasination of Minnesota Democrat Melissa Hortman. Hortman, and her husband, were shot dead by a Trump supporter posing as a member of law enforcement. Both Hochul and our State Senator, James G. Skoufis, intentionally delayed passage of the New York State Budget this year for the sole purpose of trying to ram through a state-wide ban on masks.
-Kathy Hochul talked a good game of blame concerning the New York State Republican Congressional representatives who voted for the MAGA Murder Bill. Two of whom she’d likely face next fall, either in the form of Trump’s fellow mentally unbalanced fascist flunkie, Elise Stefanik, or MAGA Mike Lawler. Pictured below hoovering up even more AIPAC money and claiming he speaks out against anti-semitism.
Without, of course, clearly reading the comment section of any Mike Lawler Facebook Post. (Don’t worry Mike, we have the screen shots to prove this for you.)
-While talking about the tremondous harm caused by the MAGA Murder Bill, Governor Kathy Hochul didn’t mention The New York Health Act at all, which would provide medical coverage to anyone in New York who needs it, including the over one million New Yorkers who are about to lose their health insurance.
(Neither Skoufis, Hochul, or Southern Orange County Assemblymen Eachus, Maher, or Brabenec, support The New York Health Act.)
-Finally, and as The Monroe Gazette reported to you, New York State has over a billion dollars tied up with Elon Musk and Tesla. So Governor Hochul got up there and talked about the one-time checks she’s going to send you to bribe you into voting for her, but nothing about the billion dollars. Money tied up with the New York State Pension fund that could be freed up.
This is especially concerning, given that her administration just told NYSERDA it would be making drastic cuts to its Empower+ Program. A program that makes it easier for New Yorkers to pay their utility bills by identifying ways to make their homes more energy efficient.
Unfortunately, Governor Kathy Hochul wasn’t alone in telling you about how hard she’s going to fight while doing nothing in reality.
Congressman Pat Ryan also said a few words. Not a single one of them involved co-sponsoring Congressman Al Green’s Articles of Impeachment against President Trump.
Not a single one of them involved co-sponsoring Congresswoman Primala Jayapal’s We The People Amendment, which is a constituional Amendment that would overturn Citizens United. (As we reported, Congressman Ryan’s office refuses to clarify whether or not the Congressman supports overturning Citizens United and backing this amendment.)
In 2024, Congressman Pat Ryan’s largest donor was AIPAC at a rate of $220,662. Followed by Peter Thiel’s Palantir Technologies at $49,513, and not far behind them, the Private Equity firm that killed Toys R’ Us, Bain Capital, at $33,004
Congressman Pat Ryan also didn’t highlight that he just voted yes on The Genius Act, which is a bill that creates the potential for a global economic meltdown not seen since the Great Recession.
Not to mention this bill further enables President Trump and his family to violate the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause through the free flow of cryptocurrency from bad actors and foreign nationals looking to influence how our president operates. (I say our president and not our government because the Supreme Court, Senate Republicans, and Congressional Republicans like Lawler and Stefanik have completely capitulated to Trump. In Mike Lawler’s case, he’s currently making TV appearances downplaying the existence of the Epstein files.)
So, as I said, the Democrats want you to know that Donald Trump is a real bad guy, and that they’re going to fight and protect you from him.
But Kathy Hochul and Pat Ryan? It’s all bark and no bite.
Because while neither likes Trump, and neither do most Americans statistically speaking, Congressman Pat Ryan and Governor Kathy Hochul don’t want to address the real problems that gave us Donald Trump in the first place.
That’s a fight they apparently want no part of.
