Skoufis backed Monroe Town Board Candidate Spreads Disinformation
In the words of Shang Tsung, "And now a taste of things to come" in terms of upcoming stories here at The Monroe Gazette this week.
Pictured Above: Orange County suddenly becomes very interested in what’s going on with that sewer line in the Village of Monroe. You know the one. We’ve written about it ad nauseum as the only media outlet covering the hydrogen sulfide problem in the Village of Monroe. The one where the County keeps trying to shift the blame onto Chester for, but 100% of the responsibility for this issue is on South Blooming Grove. (The County again tried to blame Chester in a letter sent last week on the hydrogen sulfide problem.)
Isn’t it amazing how Orange County knew about this problem for over a decade, but now that Drunk Uncle Peter Tuohy, Tax Hike Tony Cardone, and Crooked County Executive Steve Neuhaus are all up for re-election, this problem is getting addressed.
That can’t be a coincidence … Right?
Motherfuckers From Russia
We have a lot going on this week, so this is a short post to let you know what’s next.
But before you go any further, I want to alert you to something.
Above is a screenshot from Convicted Felon Timothy Jon Mitts. Here’s some more.

Convicted Felon Tim Mitts has since deleted most, if not all, of these. But as a candidate for Town Supervisor in Monroe, you have a right to know about how Mr. Tim Mitts really feels about some of the people he’s running to represent.
I have a whole post about Mitts, but I can’t run it here for ethical reasons. It would be inappropriate for me to report on a story where I’m directly involved.
But I still want people to read them. So the compromise was that I’ve moved those three posts to my website. The first one is live now.
I will soon share Part 2, which focuses on the Monroe Town Democratic Committee and the Skoufis-backed candidates.
As far as Mr. Mitt’s latest round of poorly written grammatical hallucinations, we are going to investigate the accusations he’s making. (And yes. We would love to get a comment from Timothy Mitts on these screenshots, but Mr. Mitts has The Monroe Gazette blocked. So, we’re not able to reach him for comment. This is very funny to us, since Mitts spent nearly six months telling everyone The Monroe Gazette had him blocked because we were “afraid of the truth!” )
Skoufis Backed Fear Mongering Spread In Monroe
Here’s something we can do: We can address at least one of the officially announced Skoufis-Monroe candidates, Mr. Paul Phelan.
Paul Phelan is currently spreading misinformation concerning the next round of Kiryas Joel / Town of Palm Tree annexation requests. Mr. Phelan, pronounced “Felon” by the way, is a former United Monroe member and Tony Cardone booster. So, if you think you’re getting the corrupt United Monroe members out of our local government by voting for Paul Phelan, surprise!
You’re not.
This misinformation from Felon shouldn’t be a surprise either. Mr. Skoufis likes to support candidates who can follow his playbook of feeding into the area’s antisemitism with one hand, while making sure the powerful Satmar voting bloc gets everything it wants with the other.
We saw this last year with Rhonda Fabbro’s Committee to Elect Woodbury Democrats. As we got closer to the 2024 Village election for Skoufis’s chosen candidates of Tyler Etzel Jr. and John U. Keleman, Rhonda Fabbro — Village Trustee Matthew Fabbro’s mother, who texts him during meetings to tell him how to vote — had people trying to suppress the vote.
We noted one instance in the Woodbury United Facebook Group, where one of Rhonda’s friends was saying stuff like “Nothing you do matters. You lost to the Haredi. The area has been sold out. So why don’t you just fight for what you have left.” All the while, Mrs. Fabbro’s committee was taking money from Wayne Corts and Mayer Hirsch, two local real estate developers.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that, as we also saw in Woodbury last fall, the Real Estate Lobby (both secular and Haredi, because we’ve also established Mr. Skoufis copies and pastes talking points from the real estate corporations too) can be defeated.
Now Monroe has the same fight on its hands in the form of Felon and the other Skoufis-backed candidates.
And yes, we’re going to talk about those other candidates real soon. Phelan was just the first one out of the box, but he’s not the last. In fact, we are not subtly hinting at the next one in this post.
So, just a quick fact check on Mr. Phelan: The town of Monroe has one annexation request that is currently pending. This is a previous request that ties back into the whole Village of Seven Springs creation saga.
The City of Kiryas Joel can’t formally annex any other land from the Town of Monroe, or Woodbury, until January of 2029. This was confirmed directly to The Monroe Gazette by Village of Kiryas Joel Administrator, Gedalye Szegedin. Phelan should know better, because his United Monroe group is responsible for the court case that decided how and when the next round of annexation can occur, if they occur at all. Then again, Phelan has also, repeatedly, badgered everyone and anyone about his Water District. And each time he’s had his concerns addressed, not liking the answer he got, he continued to badger everyone and anyone who will listen. To me, that sounds a lot like Village of Woodbury Trustee James Freiband. And as most Woodbury residents will tell you, the last thing anyone local government needs is another Trustee Freiband.
But I guess Mr. Ethics, Paul Phelan, doesn’t mind bending the truth when it means getting on the Town Board. And in the process, helping James Skoufis continue carving the Town of Monroe up to sell it for pieces.
Mike Lawler Sucks
I’m tracking everything Congressman Mike Lawler does—even some recent attempts by his team to astroturf Mike Lawler’s Facebook Page. Right now, Lawler is getting murdered on social media. With good reason. He voted to advance a budget that could cut over $200B to food stamps programs and up to $880B to Medicaid. Mr. Lawler’s team is now responding to posts on his Facebook Page, using sock puppets, saying Lawler did no such thing.
Why would Lawler want to cover this sort of thing up? Well. He wants to be the next governor of New York State. So badly that he’s actively going to harm New Yorkers in the process, and then hope you either don’t notice, or that gaslight you into thinking he never did exactly what he just did.
We spoke to Danny Pearlstein of the Riders Alliance about the above ad. Here’s what he told The Monroe Gazette:
Rep. Lawler is one of the leading opponents of public transit funding in America. Yet his constituents desperately need billions of dollars to protect the Hudson Line and save Grand Central Terminal from collapse. He claims credit for Trump's efforts to torpedo congestion relief and may even have voted to gut Medicaid as a campaign tactic against Governor Hochul.
Think about what Mr. Pearlstein is saying here: Congressman Mike Lawler is actively trying to fuck over thousands and thousands of commuters in New York — including the 10,000 or so in his district that commute to New York City every day on mass transit — via Presdient Trump, to bolster his campaign for governor.
That’s the new politics; it doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat or a Republican. The playbook is the same: Fuck over all of your constituents. Then run on a platform saying you’re the one who will fix it. Don’t fix it. Then run for re-election blaming someone else for not fixing it. Rinse and repeat until you get bored and go private. Working for a lobbying firm or multinational company that will pay you for your access and contacts.

And Last But Not Least …
I received a call this week asking a bizarre question. The caller asked me, “Do you know if Mr. Gedalye Szegedin will ask the Haredi to bloc vote for David Rabbitts?” I said, “What is Mr. Rabbitts running for?” They said, “Rabbitts wants to run for Town of Monroe Supervisor.”
First I heard of it. But not the first time I’ve heard of Mr. David Rabbitts doing shady shit.
This is part of a much longer story in which we discover David Rabbitts is a fossil fuel flunkie, copying and pasting talking points for the oil companies that set this planet on fire.
If you don’t yet know who this mystery candidate is — to be clear, Mr. Rabbitts hasn’t announced, but since he’s buddies with Skoufis, this is completely underwhelming and unsurprising news should he do so — Mr. Rabbitts is currently the Chief of Staff for New York State Assemblyman, Chris Eachus.
Twice during Mr. Eachus’s tenure as an assemblyman, Rabbitts has twice tried to push through a bill that would directly roll back some of the provisions of the New York State Climate Leadership and Protection Act.
Doing so would not only make the already bad air in Orange County that much harder to breathe, he would actively putting all of your lives in danger by making the planet’s climate hotter. The hotter it is, the deadlier it is.
That’s David Rabbitts. Putting your lives in danger while also asking for your vote.
Like I said in an earlier section: This is the New Politics. And that is the story we will cover very soon here at The Monroe Gazette.
Until then, if you see Mr. Rabbitts coming your way for signatures for Town of Monroe Supervisor, feel free to pass on the following message. Loud and proud:
Hey Jackass, The Oil Companies Set The Planet on Fire. You wanna work for them? Ask ExxonMobile if they’re hiring. The Town of Monroe ain’t interested.
